LA Galaxy vs New England Revolution

We started the afternoon by hanging out with the LA Riot Squad, one of the Galaxy's supporter's groups. We had an awesome time at Victoria Park with everyone. Sometimes, a story is just more easily told in photos. Or, better yet, a scrapbook page.

OMG

I'm at Ink Monkey waiting for my husband while he gets a tattoo. No big deal? It's his first, and I've never known him to want one. No, I'm not going to tell you what it is.

Longest. Sunday. Ever.

For my birthday, Steve got tickets to the Nascar race in Fontana on Sunday. Yay, right? Ha! This is how most of the 13 hrs at the track was spent:

It rained. Then stopped raining long enough for the race to start until a slick track caused accidents that stopped the race for over an hour. Then the race started again, only for the rain to start up once more, causing the race to be red-flagged. We hung out under the grandstands. The smart people went home at that point, I think. The race was officially postponed at 11pm, to be restarted Monday morning. So we went on Monday, and watched some great racing. Still mad about that torturously long rain delay, though.

Nothing

Wow, I'm actually sitting here doing nothing. Yay! Not that there's something I couldn't/shouldn't be doing. I think I like this.

I'm back

Did I say I was busy? It's been an incredibly busy time for us. Lots happening in the record biz. We had an exclusive color pressing of the Harold and Maude soundtrack, got an opportunity to pre-sale Eddie Vedder's Into The Wild and we're working on becoming a record label. I've sacrificed lots of sleep, and we've kept long hours at the business. Hopefully, we're really getting ourselves off the ground now.

DCI

I wish I was still into it as much as I was in my youth. Drum Corps, and more specifically, Color Guard. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the show, but I just didn't get that feeling of excitement in the pit of my stomach that I used to get as a remnant of my performing days. Still, it was enjoyable to see some old friends at the Rose Bowl. A lot of the old gang was missing, but I'm sure that's to be expected in Mid-August when highly valued vacation time can't be interrupted for a Drum Corps show. The Rose Bowl was packed, though. It was great to see a good turnout in the LA area for DCI!

If you care to know, the winner was the Blue Devils.

No, I never marched in a Drum Corps... I did Color Guard (Winter Guard) indoors. I'm not an outdoorsy kinda gal. Those kids are so tanned. I feel the need to warn them all about the dangers of sun damage. Ah, to be young and carefree... and able to spend a summer perfecting your craft and perfoming for an appreciative audience. All the Corps were great! Congrats to all the Corps who made the finals.
