David Beckham

I know, I'm very slow sometimes. Posh and Becks have been here for weeks, and I'm only just now talking about it. I dragged my friend, Gloria, to the David Beckham Official Presentation at the Home Depot Center on July 13. I don't pay attention to most text in emails, so I missed the part about it starting at 10am. We got there at 10am, thinking we'd be early. Anyway, here's what we saw at approximately 10:10am.

It was over after another 10 minutes. I'm not sure, but I think my friend might've been a little peeved with me for dragging her down to Carson for 20 minutes. I don't even think she was able to push her way to the front of the crowd to catch a glimpse of guy. By the way, Dreamy, isn't he?

Just over a week later, Steve and I attended our first LA Galaxy game. Yeah, we have season tickets. Yeah, they're pretty high up there. No, we didn't bother going until Beckham arrived. It was well worth the 16 minutes Becks played.

Steve says it was historic. I'm not sure about that, but it was certainly momentous.

Next goal on the list: See Becks play for England.

Playing the Ponies

We've been going to Hollywood Park on the weekends for the past month and half, or so. We very rarely win. I think it may be the habit of betting Exacta Boxes, Trifecta Boxes, and Superfecta Boxes that are killing us. Oh, we may win a bet or two, but because we bet so many horses in each race, we end up going home with less money than we brought. So this past weekend, we finally seemed to hit out stride. Here's what I won Friday night on my $2 Exacta Box:

Finally feeling that we've figured out this betting thing, we left the track only to see a sign posted at the exit. It was the closing weekend! Just when I got my gambling bug on...

Was it something I...nuked?

I normally take my lunch to work. It's usually leftovers from the previous night's dinner, or a sandwich, or sardines and rice. I'm Asian, we sometimes eat stinky foods. There's a microwave in the office area, away from the breakroom. This is the microwave I use, as I like to eat my lunch at my desk. Today I had leftover seaweed and tofu soup. It's a little stinky, sure. Well, I don't know if it was because of me, or someone else's past transgression, but a sign appeared the next time I walked by the microwave.

"In consideration of employees that work/sit in this closed area, please do not microwave foods that linger in the air, please utilize the microwave in one of the breakroom (sic)... Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience."

Oh dear.

Procrastinating

I registered for this blog more than a month ago. Maybe two. I hesitated to start blogging, though, because I love to read other blogs. It's incredibly discouraging. So many bloggers have such interesting lives. I'll warn you from the start, I do not. I occasionally do interesting things, but I'll warn you now: Life on the Westside is quite mundane.

I work for a large corporation and I co-own a small business with my husband, which is our baby. There is no actual baby, or child for that matter, in our household. Though probably still capable, I think I've missed that train.

What I'm trying to say is, Don't Procrastinate! You'll just end up, well... older. So I'm going to stop procrastinating for now. I'm sure you'll be able to tell when I go back to my old ways. Wish me luck!
